Visiting the site

The site counts visits so it’s possible to see which pages people read. It uses Vercel Analytics, which doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t follow you to other sites. No ads, and nothing is sold.

Sharing a story

If you share a story, what’s kept is exactly what you write in the form:

  • your answers,
  • the name you choose, if any,
  • your email, only if you give one, used only to reply to you,
  • whether you allow it to be published,
  • and the date it arrived.

It’s stored with the site’s hosting provider, Vercel, and its storage service, and read only by Vera Veil. It’s kept until you ask for it to be removed, or until it’s no longer needed for the stories page.

To keep automated spam out, the site counts how many stories arrive from one connection. It counts under a scrambled form of the network address that can’t be turned back into it, and forgets the count within a day. To catch spam sent twice, it also keeps a scrambled fingerprint of each story’s words for a month, which can’t be read back as the story.

Writing by email

Emails to hello@veraveilmedia.com are read by Vera Veil and kept only as long as the conversation needs.

Seeing, changing or removing what you sent

Write to hello@veraveilmedia.com at any time to see, correct or delete anything you’ve shared. How published stories are handled is in how shared stories are kept.
